Contact Double JJ
Children love riding at Double JJ, but for their safety, we have some rules.
Helmets are required for children under 18 years old and are available at the barns.
Children under 10 years old must first be evaluated and approved by a wrangler to go on any trail ride.
Children 10 to 17 years may go on a Beginner (walking) trail ride without being evaluated by a wrangler. To go on an Intermediate or Advanced ride, however, wrangler evaluation and approval is required.
Children who do not pass a wrangler evaluation are encouraged to participate in Corral Lessons where they can learn the skills necessary to ride at the level they desire.
A short evaluation of a child's riding ability, performed by a wrangler, to determine a riding level (Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced). Children will be given some instruction during this 5-minute evaluation, however for those children who have no riding experience, we offer Corral Lessons where they can learn riding skills and earn trail riding ribbons.
Young children age four and under, or who are too small to control a horse can be led on horseback around the Petting Farm Corral by their parents or a wrangler at no charge.
